How to Screen Share on Google Meet?
The steps for sharing your screen on Google Meet using a PC, mobile device, or Google Drive files

Last Edited: June 1, 2022

UC Today Team
>Screen sharing is a must-have function in a video conferencing platform like Google Meet. Users can show their complete screen or a specific window in any meeting environment, from presentations to brainstorming sessions. One can also share documents, slideshows, and spreadsheets using this feature. Although the process is not as challenging as one may believe, there are a few things to consider. Here’s all you need to know about using Google Meet to share your screen.
How to Share Screen on Google Meet using a PC
Sharing your screen on Google Meet using a PC is quite simple – here are the steps you need to follow:
1. Start or join a meeting in Google Meet. You can start/join a meeting you want to present by entering the meeting code and clicking “Join” in Google Meet via a web browser. If you aren’t the meeting host, go to the lobby and click “Join Now.”
2. Click the three dots at the bottom of your self-view window. Tap the “Present” icon in the meeting; When you click Present now, three options will appear: “Your entire screen,” “A window,” and “A tab.”
● Your entire screen : A new tab will open with one screen containing all the stuff displayed by selecting this option. First, click on the screen, then on the Share option.
● A window : This option will start a new tab with different options based on what else is open on your computer. Click the Share button after selecting the account you want to share.
● A tab : Finally, picking the ‘A tab’ option will display all of the tabs that are currently active in your browser. First, select it and click the Share button to share a tab.
3. Google Meet notifies users that they present to the entire group of participants as they navigate across windows. To stop sharing your screen, click Stop sharing at the top of your screen.
How to Share Screen on Google Meet using a mobile device
Similar to the desktop interface, one can also access a screen share feature from the Google Meet mobile app.
- Join the Google Meeting. The meeting may be accessed by the Google Calendar app, the Google Meet app, or the Gmail Meet tab.
- Tap the three vertical dots symbol in the bottom-right corner of the video screen.
- Select Share screen from the pop-up menu.
- Tap Start Broadcast for iPhone and Start Sharing for Android devices in the pop-up.
You can now proceed with the presentation because the screen should be visible to the other meeting participants. Hit the Stop Sharing option on the video call screen and click “OK” to turn off screen sharing on your mobile phone.
How to Share Your Screen During a Live Presentation
Users must pause the previous presentation if someone starts sharing their screen in the middle of a presentation, and users will see the most recent presentation shared inside the meeting. So, if users want to begin sharing a screen in the middle of a presentation, it is necessary to follow the same steps they would at other times.
As hosts, users can prevent guests from sharing their screens during scheduled meetings by employing host controls. To restrict guests from sharing their screen, enter a meeting and click the Host controls button in the lower right corner of the meeting screen. Turn off the Share screen toggle in the Host controls under “Let everyone.” This will prevent anyone from sharing a presentation at the meeting.
How to Present a Google Docs, Sheets, or Slides File Directly
Google Meet allows you to create a record that you may share with others at a meeting. This is possible thanks to Meet’s integration with Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides, which all have a native method to open Google Meet and share directly to a meeting.
- Open a document from Google Docs, Google Sheets, or Google Slides if you wish to present it.
- When the file has fully loaded, go to the upper right corner and click the Present icon.
- Select “Present using a meeting code” from the open overflow menu.
- Now, click Continue after entering the meeting code.
- If the user has already signed into the meeting on Google Meet in another Chrome tab, click the “Present tab to meeting” to share your screen.
All meeting attendees will now see the document on the host’s screen and the changes in real-time on their devices.
Using a Secondary Window or device to Share Screen
Google Meet now includes a new Companion Mode for meetings, allowing users to join the same meeting from several devices. Users can see or deliver content at a conference using a different device, such as a desktop. Users can also keep track of all guests on their primary device while seeing presentations and other collaboration features on a separate device.
Before using a secondary device for presentations, users must first attend a meeting in Companion Mode. Go to g.co/companion on your PC or Google Meet hardware, copy and paste the meeting code or link into the text box on the following page, and then click Start Companion to extend further the capabilities of the screen sharing feature of Meet.
Users can also join a meeting in Companion mode by clicking on the meeting link they were invited to, just like any other meeting link. “Go to “Other joining choices” and click “Use Companion Mode” when the Ready to Join page loads.
Now the user will enter the meeting in Companion mode. Select the Present symbol at the bottom to share your screen with others using this secondary device. Users can now choose to share “a tab,” “a window,” or “your complete screen” from their computer. Click Allow and select the browser window or tab you want to share in the next window. The presentation will start right away, and everyone’s devices will display the user’s shared screen.
Sharing your screen on Google Meet is a great way to present ideas, collaborate with colleagues, or give presentations. By following these simple steps, users can share their screens quickly and easily.

Think Outside The Slide
Use Presenter View in Google Slides and see the meeting attendees in Google Meet
Google Meet is a popular virtual meeting platform that runs in the browser as opposed to having a separate app like Teams or Zoom. If you use Google Slides to present you may have run into the issue that you can’t see the meeting attendees while you are presenting. Here’s how to be able to see the attendees during your presentation.
Move Google Meet to its own browser window
The key is to move the Google Meet tab in your browser to its own browser window. The easiest way to do this is to grab the tab at the top of the browser with your mouse and drag it off the browser window. This will move the tab into its own browser window. This works in both Chrome or Edge on Windows or the Mac. Now you can interact with the Google Meet controls in a separate window from your Google Slides presentation.
Present using Presenter View in Google Slides
In your Google Slides window, enter Presenter View by using the drop down arrow beside the Present button and choosing Presenter View in the menu.

Google Slides will open a new browser window with the slides and your speaking notes. Use this window to control your presentation.
Share the Slide Show tab in the meeting
In Google Meet, click the Present now button and select A tab to present in the meeting. Select the tab that has the name of your presentation file in Google Slides. Make sure not to select the Presenter view tab.

Click the Share button to start sharing the slides in the meeting.
Arrange the windows so you can see the attendees and Presenter View
The Presenter view window is usually positioned in the top left corner of your screen. Move the Google Meet window so you can see the attendees to the right of the Presenter View window. To make sure you can see the windows when they overlap, click on the Google Meet window, then click on the Presenter view window so the Presenter view window is on top of the left side of the Google Meet window.

Deliver your presentation
Use the arrow keys on the keyboard to proceed through your slides.
When you are done your presentation, click the Stop presenting button in the Google Meet window.
Exit Presenter view by clicking on the Presenter view window and pressing the Esc key.
Move the Google Meet window to a browser tab
When you are done, you can move the Google Meet browser window back to being a tab in the browser window that has your Google Slides tab. Similar to detaching the tab, you re-attach it by dragging the tab at the top of the Google Meet browser window to the tab area of the other browser window. It now becomes another tab in the browser window.

How to Present PPT on Google Meet?

Richard Bennett
Sep 01, 2022• Proven solutions
A meeting is never complete without an explanatory PowerPoint presentation! Running a session online can be a daunting task - with the right tools, information, and resources it can be smooth sailing. There are three main video conferencing apps available, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and an app that trumps them all - Google Meet.
Google Meet is a video calling app that comes fully equipped with numerous features, such as screen presenting. If you are looking to perfect your hand on Google Meet, then read through this comprehensive guide on how to present ppt in Google Meet !
- Part 1: Present PowerPoint Presentations in Google Meet on Laptop
- Part 2: Present Google Slides in Google Meet on Laptop
- Part 3: Present PowerPoint or Slides in Google Meet On iPhone and iPad
- Part 4: Present PowerPoint or Slides in Google Meet on Android
- Part 5: Stop Presenting PPT on Google Meet
Part 1: How to Present PowerPoint Presentations in Google Meet on Laptop
With remote working on the rise, Google Meet enables users to showcase and share PowerPoint slides during online meetings and sessions. Whether it is a meeting, online class, or brainstorming session, it becomes a whole lot easier with a PowerPoint slideshow - bringing everyone on the same page!
You must be wondering how to share ppt in Google Meet , well the process is fairly simple and extremely functional. You will only need two tools to execute this screen-sharing process, a web browser, and Microsoft PowerPoint. We would advise that you use Google Chrome as your web browser as it works best with Google Meet.
Just a heads up, when you are presenting your screen on Google Meet, everyone can see what you display, so it’s best to open up your PowerPoint slides before joining the meeting so there are no surprises!
- Open the Microsoft PowerPoint Slides on your laptop, the model or brand of the laptop does not matter, as long as you have Microsoft PowerPoint on it
- Convert your slides from the default mode to browsed by an individual mode. If you have used Microsoft PowerPoint before, then you must know that in slideshow mode the slides appear in fullscreen making it difficult to switch between applications, therefore by converting the PowerPoint it will be windowed fullscreen, allowing the presenter to switch between applications. The process is simple, just click the “Slide Show” tab, then “Set Up Slide Show”, and from the drop-down menu press “Browsed by an Individual”.

- After setting up the PowerPoint slides, move over to Google Meet and join the meeting through the meeting link provided or schedule in a new meeting. You have two options: either you can join the meeting and then share your slides, or share the PowerPoint while joining the session. If you decide to go with the second option, you must click “Present now” and continue with the steps below.
- To share your Google Meet PPT presentation just click the “Present Now” button on the bottom right-hand side of the screen.

There you will see two options and must click one of the following options,
- Your entire screen - if you would like to share your entire screen, this means any application which you see, other participants in the meeting will see as well
- A window - this allows the presenter to share only one selected window in the meeting (this option is advised)
- A tab - this is best for presenting a video or animations, not a PowerPoint

- If the presenter decides to go with the “A Window” option then click the window that shows your PowerPoint slides then select share.

The slideshow will automatically start to broadcast to viewers. We are sure you are not wondering how to present a ppt in Google Meet anymore!
Part 2: Presenting Google Slides in Google Meet on Laptop
In some cases, individuals opt to use Google Slides instead of PowerPoint presentations, but have no fear because Google Meet is equipped to share Google Slides as well. The process is quite similar to that of sharing a PowerPoint, but there are a few changes.
So to answer your question on how to present slide in Google Meet ,
- Open up your Google Slides, go over to the Google Slides webpage and browse to find the slides you have prepared.

- Open Google Meet on your browser and go on to the meeting link page. Here you have two options, one - you can join the session directly and then start presenting the screen, or two - share the screen and then join the session.
If you decide to go with the latter option, then click the “Present” option. Since I’m using the Chrome browser, I will choose the slides tab to share. If you would like to share any audio, make sure to tick the share tab audio button as well!

- Once you have gone through these steps your Google Slides will automatically be visible to anyone and everyone in the Google Meet session.
Part 3: How to Present PowerPoint or Slides in Google Meet On iPhone and iPad?
Wondering how to present ppt in Google Meet in iPhone ? Well, don’t worry because even with a mobile or tablet you can access all the Google Meet features, even screen share!
Step 1) Open your PowerPoint or Slides on your iPhone or iPad, and then join the Google Meet meeting.
Step 2) To start sharing your screen, press the three-button icon which appears in the bottom right corner of your screen, and then tap the Share Screen option.

Step 3) After doing so, the presenter will see a notification on their screen allowing them to broadcast their entire screen. Upon clicking “Start Broadcast” the screen will start to share in three seconds. Switch from Google Meet to PowerPoint or Google Slides and the screen will automatically share slides.
To be sure if the screen is being shared check the top of the iPhone or iPad and if there is a red stripe, it means the screen is being broadcasted to participants. Moreover, do not worry while switching apps, you will still be in the Google Meet session even if you go onto PowerPoint or Google Slides while sharing your screen on a mobile or tablet device.

Part 4: Presenting PowerPoint or Slides in Google Meet on Android
The process of presenting a PowerPoint or Google Slides during a Google Meet session on an android is very similar to that of an Apple device.
Step 1) You must open up your PowerPoint or Slides beforehand, while this is not necessary, it always makes the process more simple.
Step 2) Join into the Google Meet session, if you have been invited into the session then join using the joining link, if not then create a new meeting. If you would rather directly screen share instead of joining into the session first, then click the “Share Screen” option directly.
Step 3) Upon joining the meeting, click the “More” option and tap the “Present Screen” menu.

Step 4) After that, allow presenting and go to your PowerPoint / Google Slides to share them with participants, easy right?! Remember, participants can pause your screen presentation and start presenting their screen in between, as well.
Part 5: How to Stop Presenting PPT on Google Meet?
All good things must come to an end, just like wrapping up a productive PowerPoint work session on Google Meet. When a presenter is done sharing their PowerPoint slides they must stop sharing their screen as well. One easy way to do that is to leave the Google Meet session, however, that might not be so polite.
Instead, there is another way, upon finishing the discussion on the PowerPoint slides, click the stop presenting button which automatically appears on the bottom of the screen you are sharing.

If that option is not visible to the presenter, they can return to their Google Meet session, and click the stop sharing button as shown in the image below.

Moreover, if you are on an iPhone or iPad, you can simply click the red stripe on the top of your screen and a notification popup will appear indicating that you can stop presenting.

FAQ about Presenting PowerPoint on Google Meet
- Can others see you while you are presenting a PPT?

- Can participants interact with your device while sharing a presentation?
No, participants cannot interact with your device while sharing a presentation. The screen is only being mirrored, therefore only the presenter has control over the device. Participants can only view it, not control the device.
